Which sports angling fan has never dreamt of going to Poland?

Twelve years ago Pierre, the Frenchman came to live in Poland with his friend Marta and became passionately keen on angling. They offer you a rental of a big house on Czorsztyn Lake, near the legendary Dunajec river and its three tributaries. Rivers and lakes of the Tatra Mountain Region, situated about 80 km south of Krakow are still renowned among anglers for being a fishing paradise. The number of fish in local waters will surprise you. You can easily catch trout or grayling sized 20 to 40 cm with nymph or dry fly.

Water level in the rivers of the Region is maintained at the level allowing fishing throughout the season, from the beginning of May until the end of October (the end of November for anglers catching predatory fish).

Apart from the lake area of 1300 hectares, fish can be caught on the Dunajec river, on which a twelve-kilometre no-kill section has been designated, as well as on its three tributaries: the Czarny Dunajec, the Biały Dunajec and the Białka river. Each of the tributaries has a different profile.

The most highly valued section is the twelve-kilometre no kill section, situated below the dam at Krościenko, whose width varies from 40 and 80 m. You can catch here big brown trout of golden scales with red spots and grayling whose main feed is common minnow and caddis flies. In the deep water anglers catch huchen on a regular basis, however, with just the standard equipment at our disposal we have slight chances of finding this magnificent fish. In Czorsztyn Reservoir itself (1300 hectares) which is 10 km long and which has the average width of between 500 m to 1.5 km, you may fish both from the shore and from the boat. All the most popular fish appear there: from carp to numerous species of white fish, yet anglers are attracted most by huge zander and pike appearing in great numbers.

Slight angling pressure and a ban on fishing little live and dead fish make it possible to fish a pike specimen over 1 m long and big zander. The best results are obtained while twister, fish imitation, rubber and streamer fishing. The drop shot or microbait technique allow having fun with numerous perch.
