Alps-like Tatra Mountains, or the Tatras (Polish Tatry), is the highest range of the Carpathian Mountains and lie along Poland’s border with Slovakia. Two hour’s drive from Krakow one finds stunning views and pristine nature as well as the best skiing in winter and hiking, rock climbing, cave exploration, cycling, paragliding, etc. through the rest of the year. As tourism has been the area’s main business for over a century, visitors are thoroughly catered to. Visitors to the Tatras largely head for Zakopane, the biggest mountain resort in Europe north of the Alps. The town of 28,000 receives about three million holiday-makers a year. Due to its central location on the verge of both the High Tatras and the Western Tatras, and its accessibility, Zakopane is the best gateway to the whole area. The town also abounds in varied hotels, inns, and boarding-houses, restaurants and cafes, shops and art galleries, sport facilities and nightclubs. Zakopane is a major center of winter sports of all sorts.

The townsfolk take pride in their own brand of the traditional Polish highlander culture – Poland’s highlanders are as emblematic to other Poles as Scotland’s to the British, albeit more colorful by far.

A special attraction is the magnificent view stretching across the whole area. You can see the other four national parks (Pieniny, Gorce, Tatra, Babiogorski), Lake Czorsztyńskie, Tatra Mountains and the entire Valley Nowotarska.

The area also has beautiful antique objects such as Castle in Czorsztyn Niedzica Castle, open-air museum in the Tourist Settlement Czorsztyn, historic church in Dębno and many others. In the area there are also Gothic Route - a Polish-Slovak trail traces of Gothic art and architecture.

There are numerous cruises "White Lady" after the Bay Czorsztyn. Great also popular rafting on the Dunajec. In winter, do not miss the fun for skiers, which offers a modern ski resort "Czorsztyn-Ski".

Czorsztyn the lake there are regular boat trips for walking called "White Lady" Marina is located at the foot of Niedzica castle where, according to legend, centuries ago lived an unhappy woman whose husband drowned in the castle well. Until today, the castle appears in the spirit of the White Lady. The ship was so named in remembrance of niedzicki ghosts. Cruise around the lake takes about 50 minutes (the ship leaves on the hour) and the board holds about 50 people. While walking on the water you can enjoy the mountains, castle ruins Czorsztyńskie, Czorsztyn museum. Experienced guide talks about local history and legends associated with the surrounding monuments. So this is a unique opportunity to explore the area and an affordable fee (tickets for children 9 zł, for adults 11 zł - prices for the year 2003) to stay afloat in the heart of Pieniny.

You can also choose a cruise gondola "Czorsztynianka. Gondola takes 12 people on board, starting dock at the foot of the castle in Niedzica next to the harbor below the castle and the Settlement Czorsztyn Desk Stylchyn peninsula. Cruises run from May to September.

Dunajec River Rafting Rafting Flisackimi

Rising Dunajec Canyon is a controversial issue to many scientists. The most interesting are folklore on this topic. One legend has it that the mouth Dunajcowi wyrąbał King Boleslaw the Brave Sword. Another legend speaks of Ferkowiczu, pursuers of the king snake, which escaped his overturned cielskiem gorge, paving the way river.
